Time Commitment for Leader/Speaker

Serving on the Leadership Team at SOS is a major commitment. If you are in leadership in other ministries or organizations, or already over committed, being a counselor or leader is probably not your best option. Here is a description of the commitment expectation for each of these positions. Please note that all of these commitments are mandatory for all leaders and cover the entire year.

Being an SOS speaker is 45 minutes per topic. There are big group topics where you speak in front of all the girls and you only speak once. Then there are break out groups where you speak in a smaller group of girls, it’s more personal, and you speak it twice. You will need to meet or talk with Kara or Candice once a month about productivity and planning. As a speaker, we want you to pray and see what you feel led to speak on, let us know, and then get it approved, and plan it yourself. There will be a deadline for turning in your rough drafts and topics.

Being an SOS leader is a bigger commitment. You are the leader for your assigned girls throughout the camp. You will stay at a host home with your girls. You lead bible studies at the host homes which you will receive an outline for guidance; take note that you will not be following a booklet but that you will plan them yourself. Also, you have a minimum of two topics to teach in break out groups(see previous paragraph), which you choose and plan yourself. We want you to pray and see what you feel led to speak on, let us know, get it approved, and plan it yourself. We will need to know what topics you choose by a certain date. There will be a deadline for turning in your rough drafts on your topics also. You will need to meet or talk with Kara or Candice twice a month about productivity and planning.

There will be a mandatory spring 2015 leadership retreat that dates will be decided later . Also, there is a mandatory prep day June 25th, 2015. Of course, camp will be June 26th-30th.
