This Week has been Weird

School has been going on for a while now and the struggle is real. Each week, it seems we get more homework and more stuff to do. With each piece of life piling up, it seems that the stress begins piling up too. Because not only is there school and homework all the time, you have to do this or that, and then you have this significant other who has just as much, if not more, stuff to do than you –but you’re still trying to see each other, also you forgot to feed your fish and he’s swimming sideways, and the dishes in the sink are growing. Most importantly, the Bible is collecting dust.

In this hard struggle, the One we need to be turning to seems to be the last resort. We allow our stresses and struggles to consume our minds and our time. We forget that we don’t need to worry about tomorrow (Matthew 6:34). We forget that God is our priority. We forget to do everything as if we are working for God. We forget to praise, honor, and love Him. All because we are wrapped up in stuff.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I am not saying “quit everything and spend all your time at church” or “don’t do homework –read your bible.” What I am saying is this: don’t forget. Don’t forget your purpose and God’s plan for you. In the stressful and weird moments, don’t forget to bring them to God. Make God a priority.

Get out your Bible and dedicate every weird day to the Lord.

But take heart! “I’ve told you this so that my peace will be with you. In the world you’ll have trouble. But cheer up! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

Life is going to be stressful sometimes, and there are going to be weird days where sometimes we can’t keep up. Sometimes we do forget to keep God as our #1 priority. But when you catch yourself in those moments, remember. Remember the one who has overcome.

“All our failures and all our fear, God our love –He has overcome.

All our burdens and all our shame, God our freedom –He has overcome.

All our troubles and all our tears, God our hope –He has overcome.” (song: Take Heart by Hillsong United)
